Broadband mobile bundles: the discount that isn’t always a discount
Broadband mobile bundles get pitched as an easy win. Put your phone and your router with the same company, the story goes, and you’ll pay less for both. Sometimes that’s true. Sometimes you’re just tidying up two bills into one company’s spreadsheet, and paying exactly what you’d have paid apart.
Four UK providers run broadband mobile bundles as of September 2026: Vodafone, Virgin Media O2, EE and, since May, BT. If your broadband and your phone are with different companies, or with anyone else, there’s no bundle discount waiting for you, whatever a sales call implies.
Which broadband mobile bundles actually exist right now?
Four schemes cover the UK market for broadband mobile bundles. Each works differently, so “bundling” doesn’t mean the same discount everywhere.
- Vodafone Together – combine a Vodafone mobile plan with Vodafone broadband for a discount on the broadband line, typically a few pounds a month.
- Virgin Media O2 Volt – pair an O2 pay monthly plan with Virgin Media broadband at the same address for perks like doubled mobile data, rather than a straight cash discount.
- EE One – add a new EE mobile plan to Full Fibre broadband for money off the mobile side, though not if you’re already on a discounted plan.
- BT Mobile – relaunched on 20 May 2026 and built around BT broadband customers, with plans starting from around £9 a month for 10GB when bundled with BT broadband, on 30-day rolling terms.
BT’s return is the newest change here and the one most likely to catch people out, because BT Mobile spent roughly two and a half years closed to new customers while BT pushed everything towards EE. That plan was shelved, and BT Mobile came back in May 2026 pitched squarely at existing BT broadband households. If you looked into this last year and were told no, the answer has changed.
Plusnet is the genuine exception. It closed its mobile service in 2024 and has not brought it back, so there’s no bundle to chase there. Sky sells both broadband and mobile, but without a headline bundle discount linking them.
Do broadband mobile bundles actually save you money?
Sometimes, yes. Often, only if you were already going to buy both products from that provider anyway. Bundling isn’t magic. It’s a loyalty reward dressed up as a special offer for everyone. Same trick, better marketing.
Run the sums properly. Price the broadband and the mobile plan separately from your two cheapest options elsewhere, then compare that total to the bundled price. Broadband mobile bundles only win if the combined number beats what you’d pay by shopping the two separately, not just what you’re paying right now.
When broadband mobile bundles aren’t worth it
If you’re happy with your current broadband but your phone contract is ending, switching your mobile to match your broadband provider purely to “get the bundle” often costs more than picking the best deal from a proper SIM only comparison. The saving on offer needs to beat the gap you’d otherwise pocket.
The same goes in reverse. Don’t move a broadband connection you’re happy with just to chase a mobile discount, especially if it means paying an exit fee on your existing broadband contract to do it. Check that fee before you sign anything new.
Perks like doubled data or added streaming subscriptions are worth something, but only if you’d actually use them. A data allowance you’ll never touch isn’t a saving, whatever the marketing calls it.
It’s also worth checking contract lengths separately. Broadband mobile bundles sometimes tie your mobile plan’s end date to your broadband contract, which can mean losing the flexibility to switch just one half when a better SIM deal turns up elsewhere. Ask the provider directly whether the two contracts are linked or run independently before you sign.
Broadband mobile bundles compared, checked September 2026
| Bundle | What you combine | Typical benefit | Catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vodafone Together | Vodafone mobile + Vodafone broadband | A few pounds off broadband monthly | Only on qualifying plans, both bought from Vodafone |
| Virgin Media O2 Volt | O2 pay monthly + Virgin Media broadband | Doubled mobile data, other perks | Same address required, not a cash discount |
| EE One | New EE mobile plan + EE Full Fibre | Money off the mobile plan | Void if you’re already on a discounted mobile plan |
| BT Mobile | BT mobile plan + BT broadband | Plans from around £9 a month for 10GB when bundled | Built around BT broadband customers; relaunched May 2026 |
Figures reflect each provider’s own published bundle terms, checked in September 2026. Amounts and eligibility rules change, so check the current terms before you commit rather than relying on last year’s numbers.
Key takeaways
- Vodafone, Virgin Media O2, EE and BT all run broadband mobile bundles in the UK as of September 2026.
- BT Mobile relaunched in May 2026 after being closed to new customers, so an old “no” may no longer apply.
- Plusnet closed its mobile service in 2024, so there is no bundle to chase there.
- A bundle only saves money if it beats the two cheapest deals bought separately, not your current bill.
- Non-cash perks like doubled data only count as a saving if you’ll actually use them.
Frequently asked questions about broadband mobile bundles
- Are broadband mobile bundles always cheaper than separate deals?
- No. They’re only cheaper if the combined bundle price beats what you’d pay for the two best separate deals elsewhere. Compare both totals before switching anything.
- Can I get a broadband mobile bundle with any provider?
- Not yet. As of September 2026, Vodafone, Virgin Media (with O2), EE and BT offer a genuine broadband mobile bundle. Plusnet closed its mobile service in 2024, and Sky sells both products without a headline bundle discount linking them.
- Can I still get BT Mobile if I am a BT broadband customer?
- Yes. BT Mobile reopened to new customers on 20 May 2026 and is built around BT broadband households, with plans starting from around £9 a month for 10GB on 30-day rolling terms. If you were told it was closed before then, that is out of date.
- What happens to my bundle discount if I cancel one product?
- The discount or perk usually stops as soon as one part of the bundle ends, so your remaining bill can jump back up. Check the terms for how much notice you need to give.
- Is Virgin Media O2 Volt worth it if I don’t need extra data?
- Probably not on its own. Volt’s main perks are data perks rather than a straight discount, so if you already have enough data, the bundle may add little real value.
Whichever way the maths lands, it only takes a minute to check what you’d pay broadband and mobile completely separately. Roo’s happy to do the boring bit.
